The importance of Medical Transcription training

Medical Transcription training is something of a grey area. According to some, Medical Transcription training is necessary if you want to be employable as a Medical Transcriptionist, though others would argue that it isn’t.

Personally, I would advise training. This is because the majority of employers and doctors prefer qualified Transcriptionists, given it provides a measure of their ability. This is because the accuracy of the medical report is absolutely critical and they can ill-afford mistakes being made. There are very few jobs that do not require some form of certification and those that do tend to be pay poor wages. Companies that do not require certification often provide no opportunity to progress and this means that you are stuck earning a paltry wage.

There are a number of places online where you will be able to find Medical Transcription training. However, it is imperative that you choose a course that is recognised by the AHDI. This is important to ensure that the program is a legitimate one. Another good option is to try and locate in-house training. These opportunities do exist and it is a good opportunity to become trained for little cost. When you’ve completed the Medical Transcription training, which can take anywhere between 18 and 24 months, the theory is that you will then become a very valuable employee to the company.

Medical Transcription training is an investment in your future and without it, you’ll struggle to make your way in this sector.
